Polartec® fabric programs

How Polartec® jacket programs work

Polartec® is a fabric brand, not a garment maker. A brand specifies a Polartec fabric for a style, and a manufacturer builds the garment around it. That makes the project different from a generic jacket program in three ways: the fabric defines much of the performance story, fabric availability and minimums are set by the fabric supply chain, and the way you may label and market the garment depends on the trademark owner’s approval. Mont Gear works inside those rules and is not an agent or licensee of Polartec.

Polartec platforms we build jackets around

Platform Category What brands use it for Program page
Power Shield® and Power Shield® Pro Softshell weather protection Stretch, wind-resistant, water-repellent jackets for active use Power Shield jackets
NeoShell® Breathable waterproof fabric Waterproof, stretchy shells that sit between softshell and hard shell NeoShell jackets
Alpha® Active insulation Breathable insulation for stop-and-go activity Alpha insulated jackets
Thermal Pro® and Power Grid™ Fleece Warm, compressible mid layers and fleece jackets Fleece jackets

Platform names follow Polartec’s published product families. Current fabric variants and availability are confirmed with approved supply sources for each program.

  • Rain and snow with stretch: NeoShell-type breathable waterproof fabric. Compare with our Power Shield vs NeoShell guide
  • Warmth while moving: Alpha active insulation under or inside a breathable shell
  • Everyday warmth and layering: Thermal Pro or Power Grid fleece

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is Mont Gear a Polartec licensee?

No. Mont Gear is not an agent or licensee of Polartec. We manufacture garments for brands that specify Polartec fabrics. Material access, authorization, labeling and public claims are confirmed for each program.

Can I put the Polartec name on the garment?

Use of Polartec names, labels and hangtags requires approval from the trademark owner. We help you follow the approved label placement once that approval is in place.

Which Polartec fabric is best for a softshell jacket?

Brands often start with the Power Shield family for softshell weather protection. The right variant depends on weight, finish and price target, so we confirm during tech pack review.

Is Polartec fleece different from generic fleece?

Polartec fabrics are specific engineered knits with their own named constructions, such as Thermal Pro and Power Grid. Generic fleece can be a good, lower-cost option; we offer both.

Do fabric minimums affect the order quantity?

Yes. Fabric minimums are set by the fabric supply chain and can affect colours and quantity per style. We check them early and confirm in your quote.
