Fleece types we manufacture
| Fleece | Character | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| Microfleece | Thin, soft, quick-drying | Light mid layers, liners and travel pieces |
| Midweight fleece | Balanced warmth and weight | Everyday and hiking jackets |
| Heavyweight and high-loft fleece | Deep pile, high warmth for the weight | Cold-weather jackets and outer layers |
| Grid fleece | Channels on the inside move moisture and cut weight | Active mid layers and base-to-mid hybrids |
| Sherpa and sweater-knit fleece | Textured, lifestyle look | Casual outdoor and fashion-led outerwear |
Fleece weight classes are commonly described as roughly 100, 200 and 300 g/m². Exact values are set by the fabric chosen.
Polartec® fleece platforms
Two Polartec fleece families are common in outdoor programs. Thermal Pro® is a fleece with a distinctive surface structure that adds warmth without losing function, with a High Loft version aimed at the best warmth for its weight. Power Grid™ is a grid-backed fleece whose channels help it wick, warm, breathe and compress using less material and bulk. If your brand specifies either, we handle it through our Polartec jacket program.
Fleece jacket details we engineer
- Full-zip, half-zip, quarter-zip, hooded and vest silhouettes
- Flatlock or covered seams for comfort under a pack
- Binding, elastic or raw-edge hems and cuffs
- Zip garages, chin guards and stretch-panel combinations
- Recycled-content fabrics where available (see sustainability)
- Pilling, shrinkage and colourfastness checks on samples
Combine fleece with a shell
Fleece is the classic partner for a hard shell. For a single jacket that blends both, see bonded fleece softshell jackets.
